In my Electronic Media Production course we are to create a LinkedIn account to have on our blogs.
https://www.linkedin.com/uas/login LinkedIn is a business website created for social business networking. Founded in December 2002 and launched on May 5, 2003, it is mainly used for professional networking.
Many people use LinkedIn to post resumes to potential employers because you can list all of your work experiences, volunteer services, contacts or connections, awards and certifications all in one place online just as easy as using Facebook, which makes it easy to update while staying inform with the world of business around you. Another reason why many people use LinkedIn is because the networking is so great. Networking with colleagues, employees from different companies, network with people with different job tittles and descriptions or occupations.
LinkedIn is such a big success it has more than 7,600 full-time employees with offices in 30 cities around the world. LinkedIn started off 2012 with about 2,100 full-time employees worldwide, up from around 1,000 at the beginning of 2011 and about 500 at the beginning of 2010. In 2006, LinkedIn increased to 20 million members. As of March 2015[update], LinkedIn reports more than 364 million acquired users in more than 200 countries and territories As of 2 July 2013[update], Quantcast reports LinkedIn has 65.6 million monthly unique U.S. visitors and 178.4 million globally, a number that as of 29 October 2013 has increased to 184 million. In June 2011, LinkedIn had 33.9 million unique visitors.
Some of the features of LinkedIn that I like is having the connections, endorsing is important I think, and the resume writing feature. These qualities of LinkedIn to me is a reason why so many people like this site. LinkedIn to me makes social media open but close. LinkedIn allows you to make your connections with whom you choose if they want to connect back, and then the networking begins. You can post your resume and all of your attributes to your working field and gain endorsements to find a new job, take part in special events or programs, be a mentor to someone, and or just staying connected to your field and or interest.
I'm sure I will enjoy LinkedIn and will have it for the early years of my career. I know want to stay inform with the field of mass communications, and network with the professionals from all areas of this field. http://web.olivetcollege.edu/careerdev/communication.htm This link will show you a list of different careers you can have with a communications degree.
